Observing the Human
"Observing the Human" is a new contemporary art exhibition brought to you from the collaboration between London-based art collecting platform, Artscapy, and Korean artist collective known as Noonssup, lead by Bongsu Park and Ga Ram Kim. The exhibition comes to life at the eclectic creative space on 98 Curtain Road, Shoreditch.
“Observing the Human” presents a journey into human nature with five artists showcasing their work, focusing on the notion of observation: an experience that cannot be limited to a purely sensory one. The aim is to shed a different light on the human experience tied to and perhaps somehow distorted by technology, through video, performance, and audio.
Each of the artistic concepts presented sprouts from roots in South Korean contemporary culture and iconography. The stems then grow in different directions into the human experience, into observation, applying each different mediums of expression, powered by the new opportunities that technology offers. In particular, each work has a unique tie to technology as a non-fungible token (NFT), whether the token stores the artwork directly or acts as a right to access the artwork. At every point, the viewer is invited to participate and actively, or passively, allow observation to unfold.
Beyond bringing new thought-provoking contemporary art to London's art lovers, the collaboration has another goal of demystifying NFT and blockchain technology and make this new stream of art more accessible to collectors and the wider public. Running throughout the exhibition, there is a workshop and talks programme to help visitors learn more about the artistic project, NFTs and the underlying blockchain technology. The workshops will also feature practical support and Q&A on blockchain and NFTs, with the purpose to clear common misunderstandings of what the technology entails and how it is being used by artists.
You can find tickets to each of these workshops and panel discussions here on Eventbrite. We look forward to seeing you there!
